Tim the Intern

If you had told me on the day that I first met Tim Ward way back in 2005 that one day he would be taking a journey to be the intern for the summer at LifePoint Baptist Church in Washington, PA. I would have told you that you were crazy. In the four plus years that I have known Tim I have seen him grow leaps and bounds. I will never forget seeing this big man/child sitting in the boathouse of Summit Lake during our Winter Retreat balling his eyes out. (sorry to call you out on that Tim! It’s the truth though.) This was post realization that he needed Christ and had accepted that gift of salvation! I will never forget that moment. (the story of how Tim came to join us at the Winter Retreat is great, ask him about it someday...)

It was shortly after that Winter Retreat that Tim was embarking on mission with us to Morgantown, WV for CityReach. CityReach was a natural fit for this young man - he spent one year with the sports campers and was signed up for another year of sports camp when the following conversation happened.

Tim :: John, I think that God is leading me to switch to COPS (Christian Opinion Polls).

John :: Are you sure? No one from our group has ever done that.

Tim :: I’m pretty certain. I’m a little nervous but I think I’m supposed to switch. I know Jonathan just talked about not switching but...

John :: Well, let’s go talk to Jonathan.

(this conversation is obviously not word for word...)

I was so proud of Tim for stepping out and trusting that God was going to provide. God knew then that this experience would be preparing him for summer of 2009...

Years later and just a few months ago God began to work on Tim to apply for the LifePoint Internship for summer 2009. As God laid this on his heart, Satan started piling up obstacles and reasons not to pursue this opportunity. As we met, prayed and broke down those barriers, God began to provide.

Jehovah Jirah :: God provides

God didn’t stop providing for Tim and this internship. I know that God has crazy, big, seemingly impossible things in store this summer and beyond for this young man.

You can keep up with Tim the Intern and his journey.

those are the stories we crave and the stories we live for.
