Softball League...

To say that I am excited to play organized softball is quite the understatement. This will be my first softballing since college! This league is going to be slightly different from most though. It is a co-ed league and the guys have to bat opposite handed! Those of you who know me, know that I am absolutely not ambidextrous (how in the world would anyone spell that word without spell check!). At our first practice I started out terrible hitting left handed and slowly got more comfortable with it. I am thinking though that the learning curve is going to be similar each week considering this is something I have never done before.

This concept brings to mind things that we take for granted. Even though I haven’t played softball or swung a bat in a few years I am pretty sure that I could get out there and hit some balls and hit them well, with my natural right handed swing that is! Things that we have been doing all of our lives are things that we don’t even have to think about they just happen. Now, I am catching myself practicing with an “air” bat and working on my mechanics!

Practice tonight - as long as the field isn’t too wet I guess! Oh yeah, this is an “old” person’s league! haha. I think that it is actually 30+ :: I know, I know - it’s hard to imagine that I fit that category.

Meaghan and her parents are also on the team so it will definitely be good times. I will give you a more detailed description of this team at a later date. Let’s just say that there are a bunch of characters!!!!!
